Terms of Use

L2 Ovaris is a privately operated Essence server, run by a small team as a hobby project.

It is not an official service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or in any way connected to NCSOFT Corporation or any of its partners. All related names, marks and artwork belong to their respective owners. Nothing here transfers any right in them to you or to us.

Buying nothing and expecting nothing is the right frame of mind for a project like this one.

You must be at least 16 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian. Anyone may register. Whenever access to the client needs an invite, you request it from your cabinet.

You are responsible for everything done through your account, including by anyone you let use it.

• Keep your passwords to yourself. We will never ask you for a password. Not in chat, not by email, not on Telegram. Anyone who does is not us.
• Do not reuse passwords. Game passwords are stored in the weak format the game's login protocol requires; the privacy policy explains why and what it means for you.
• Accounts are not for sale, rent or transfer.
• Tell us through our Telegram bot @L2Ovarisbot or at [email protected] if you think someone else got into your account.

These are the things that get an account removed:

• Third-party automation. Auto-hunt and offline play are built into this client, they are switched on, and using them is fine. What is not fine: programs that read or change the client's memory, send their own packets, or play with no client at all. The client our updater installs is the only one that may connect. Start it with the Play button in OvarisUpdater and run one game window per computer: both are checked automatically when you enter the world.
• Exploiting. Using a bug for advantage instead of reporting it. Report it and we will thank you publicly; farm it quietly and we will not.
• Real-money trading. Selling accounts, characters, items or in-game currency for money, on this server or anywhere else.
• Harassment. Threats, targeted abuse, hate speech, doxxing, or sharing another player's personal information.
• Attacking the service. Denial-of-service attempts, probing for holes, interfering with other players' connections, or trying to reach parts of our systems that are not yours.
• Impersonation. Pretending to be a member of the team.

We investigate using server logs. Decisions are made by people, and we will tell you what rule was broken.

The service is provided as is, on a best-effort basis, by people who also have day jobs.

• The server may be unavailable, restarted without warning, or lose recent progress after a crash.
• Rates, mechanics and content will change while we tune them.
• Beta progress may be wiped before launch. If it is, we announce it in advance. Do not treat beta progress as permanent.

During the open beta we accept no payments of any kind. Payments open at launch. Nobody on the team will ask you for money. If someone does, they are not us. Tell us.

The purchase terms are published, as promised, before the first payment is possible. The short version: one dollar is 100 Lucky Coins, and purchases are final.

Everything inside the game — characters, items, currency, progress — stays part of the game and belongs to the service. You get a personal, non-transferable permission to use it while your account is active. It is not property, it has no monetary value, and it cannot be exchanged for money.

Items and currency can be changed, rebalanced or removed as part of running the server, and they end with a wipe.

Premium. Right now every account has premium for free. It gives extra adena, extra inventory slots and access to offline farm; the current numbers are on the website. What premium gives, and whether it stays free, can change, and every change is announced in the update log.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, or where doing so is necessary to protect other players or the service. Serious cases — cheating, real-money trading, attacks on the service — mean immediate removal without warning.

You may close your account at any time by writing to us. See the privacy policy for what happens to your data.

To the extent the law allows: the service comes with no warranties, and we are not liable for lost progress, lost items, downtime, or any indirect loss arising from using it. We do not guarantee that the service will continue to exist. It is a hobby project, and hobby projects end.

Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited by agreement.

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will change the effective date at the top and announce it in the update log. Continuing to play after that means you accept the new version.
